What is mukken?

mukken is a brand new online platform for musicians, bands, producers, music teachers and many more. The focus is on the community concept and the opportunity to find and network with one another via personal ads. We have made it our mission to bring musicians together more easily via our platform. mukken also provides the opportunity to present yourself as a band or artist and to share your own work with the mukken community.

Who is mukken for?

mukken is for music lovers of all age groups and areas. Whether you are a beginner, professional, solo artist, band, choir director, producer or music teacher - with us you will always find the right, instruments, genres or musicians for your project.

How long has mukken existed?

mukken has been in development since summer 2020 and is now opening its virtual doors for the first time in September, 2021.

Who are the people behind mukken?

The brothers Kjell-Sören and Leif-Torge Weibrecht from Kiel, Germany created mucken together with their international team.

As independent entrepreneurs and founders, these two work for many well-known brands in the field of software and mobile app development. They were recognized for their creative achievements at an early stage with a special prize for culture in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, and have been active in the music scene for over 15 years.

Is mukken available as an app?

Not yet, but soon. You can find the countdown for the app’s launch on our homepage.

Where is mukken based?

We are in action across Europe with our international team. However, the first beta version of our platform is initially optimized and designed for the German-speaking area.

What does mukken cost?

The platform can be used free of charge and is built without annoying advertising banners - we plan to keep it that way. In order to cover our costs for development, infrastructure and expansion, you have the option of highlighting your contact ads for a small charge in order to achieve more reach and visibility.

Is my personal data protected?

The topic of processing and protecting personal data is our top priority. Together with IT experts, lawyers and data protection specialists, we have been working on building a suitable cloud infrastructure since the beginning of mukken’s development.

Do you process deletion requests?

Of course. You have the option to delete your profile with us at any time.

Do you process data requests?

Per the GDPR, you have the right to obtain information about your data stored by us at any time.

How can I register without a phone number?

That’s not possible. Registering with a real telephone number is an important step for us to avoid fake and spam profiles. Your number will not be shown publicly and will only be used for registration in strict compliance with the GDPR.

I'm not looking for anything, can I still register?

Yes absolutely. This platform is not only designed for seekers, but for everyone who loves music. A large community of musicians, bands, music teachers, producers and much more is emerging here.

Who can I message?

You can write to anyone who has published an ad. The ad indicates that the poster is interested in a particular topic, thus opening the mailbox for inquiries.

Who can message me?

You can only be contacted once you have created an offer or request ad. This indicates your interest in a certain topic or project and opens your mailbox for inquiries.

Can I delete my messages?

Yes, you have the option to delete your messages in the chat or to deactivate the entire chat conversation (if you are the creator).

Who uses mukken?

mukken is mainly aimed at musicians, bands, producers, music teachers, sound engineers, singer-songwriters and more. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or a professional. Everyone’s welcome.

Why does everyone have the same number of subscribers?

Unusual, isn't it? However, that is on purpose! We do not value the presentation of subscriber numbers for individual artists. With mukken everyone is directly connected to everyone else, there is no weighting according to subscriptions or likes. This is because we are a community - we grow together.

Can I find my genres and instruments on mukken?

We sure hope so! Our database contains several thousand entries. If you still can't find your instrument or genre, please contact us using the help / support contact form in your dashboard.

Who can see my phone number?

Your phone number will not be shown to anyone. It is used only to register and authenticate your profile.

What is the username for?

The username is unique and is required to associate your profile with a name or pseudonym. You can find the input option under “Edit profile” in your dashboard.

What can I set as a username?

Possible entries are letters from A-Z, numbers 0-9 and underscores. There is no distinction between upper and lower case, but your username must be at least five characters long.

Do I need a username?

Yes, this is necessary so that your profile can be linked to a name or pysodonym. As soon as you enter your real name in the fields “first name” and “last name”, this will be displayed on your profile.

My username is already taken–what now?

Since usernames must be unique, it is possible that another user has already registered with your desired name. In this case you would have to work with an alternative and slightly change your desired name.

Someone is pretending to be me–what can I do?

If this is the case, you are welcome to contact us via the help / support area - we will take a closer look at it immediately.

What if I didn't get a text message...?

Check whether you have selected the right country with the appropriate country code - i.e. the country in which your mobile phone number is registered. For example +49162123445, for the German number “0162123445”. If it still doesn't work, please contact our support team for further assistance.

I have a new number or want to change my number?

In this case, please contact our support team. We can help with that.

My cell phone was stolen—what now?

Sorry to hear that. The best way to contact us is by email so that we can deactivate your account until you have your cell phone back or a new number is available to log in.

Can I delete my account?

You can do this at any time in the settings of your profile.
