Pink seems to be constantly on the road - together with her three favorite people and 24 suitcases. The 159-concert "Beautiful Trauma Tour" demanded a lot from the singer, both mentally and physically. How did Pink manage to combine her career with family life? Find out how the mother of two manages the balancing act between being a star and a mom in the music documentary P!nk: All I Know So Far directed by Michael Gracey.

The opening scene of "P!nk: All I Know So Far" shows excited fans at Wembley Stadium in London, eagerly anticipating Pink's performance on the "Beautiful Trauma Tour." Before she takes to the stage, she gives her daughter, who is watching her mother's performance backstage, a quick pinch under the armpit. "Get the Party Started" is the first song Pink sings as she floats across the stage on a giant, pink chandelier, putting on an acrobatic performance.
In the following scene, Pink's family can be seen getting off the private jet. Husband Carey, daughter Willow, and son Jameson all accompany Pink to Amsterdam, where a big performance is imminent. Checking into a luxury hotel, topping off a bottle of champagne—it's all part of the family's daily routine now. Pink explains that she really appreciates being able to explore the world through the eyes of her children and at the same time pursue her passion for performing on the world's biggest stages.
In general, many female artists stop touring as soon as they become mothers. The fact that Pink does not follow this trend may seem unimaginable to some. However, she justifies the touring circus with the opportunity to create lasting memories with her family. Her ambition is not only to be an excellent artist, but also a wonderful mother, even if this means sometimes having to split herself in two.
Her kids are always involved in the rehearsals. Willow makes the hall unsafe with her hoverboard while her mommy makes outfit decisions with the team and goes over the choreography for the umpteenth time. The singer doesn't close the door behind her when she goes to work, because her family is always by her side. That's nice on the one hand, but incredibly exhausting on the other.
While mornings in conventional families often start with the words "Let's go to school", the morning call in Pink's family is: "Would you like to come to rehearsals?" Willow loves to accompany her mom to rehearsals. When Pink is busy practicing on the empty stage before her performances, Willow takes every opportunity to shake a leg to her mother's music.
But Pink doesn't always seem to be happy with her performances. After a performance, she says that if she had been an audience member who had bought a ticket, booked a parking space and bought a meal to see her show, she would have been very disappointed. Her manager replies that Pink is too hard on herself. Surely the audience loved it.
When Pink spends an evening with her family in the hotel room, she jokingly asks "Are we canceling the tour?". Willow replies: "No. Although, yes. Maybe we could. I'm in the mood for summer camp and a bouncy castle." Pink's guilty conscience catches up with her and asks Willow if she wants to go to camp for a week. Willow replies: "No. I still want to see London. But I'd love to afterwards."
Pink was raised from the age of 9 by a single mother who was an emergency room nurse. Every year, her mother put money aside so that mother and daughter could dress up for a special day and go into town to see off-Broadway plays. "Phantom of the Opera," "Les Misérables," "La Cage aux Folles," Pink had seen them all. Some elements of Pink's stage show today are thanks to her mother. Her parents supported her from an early age in all the things she wanted to do. If the young Pink wanted to sing, she was allowed to sing. If young Pink wanted to do gymnastics, she was allowed to do gymnastics. This was a signal to her that anything could be achieved with training and practice.
Pink was a gymnast in her childhood and youth. During this time, she followed a strict training schedule consisting of five sessions per week. However, the tough training program paid off. One day, while attending a Cher concert, she noticed the acrobats for the first time, who seemed to be having great fun high up in the air. This gave birth to her idea of also acting as an acrobat during stage performances: a practice that later became her unmistakable trademark. Pink claims that she sings even better upside down.
Pink's husband Carey is her pillar of strength, who protects Pink from herself. She met him in 2001 when he was still a motocross rider. Five years later, the couple said "I do." In his role as husband, Carey proves to be an indispensable support for Pink during her exhausting tours. She is certain that a partnership with someone who constantly needs to be coddled would be difficult, if not impossible. Carey, on the other hand, fulfills his role with humility and supports Pink where she needs him most, as a family man. She loves watching him embody the role of the perfect parent. When Pink is exhausted after a hard day of rehearsals, Carey always agrees to play with the children. This sacrifice and love of family is invaluable to Pink.
The day of Pink's big performance at Wembley Stadium has arrived. A bus picks the family up from their hotel at 1:30 p.m. on the dot and takes them to the venue. On arrival, Pink receives a group hug from the crew to get her in the mood for the two huge concerts ahead. This is followed by clips of the dress rehearsal. Pink floats through the entire stadium, attached to four ropes. There are also acrobatic somersaults in the air, a small foretaste of what spectators can expect. At 4:30 p.m., it's time for make-up, with Pink taking hair styling into her own hands on the grounds that, firstly, she doesn't have much hair and, secondly, these are the only moments when she is undisturbed. It's 18:45: Pink warms up her voice and her body. Shortly afterwards, a time-lapse shows the crowds storming into the stadium. There is a final speech at 8pm.
Then the time has come. Pink takes to the stage in front of 80,000 cheering fans. Spectacular excerpts follow. As always, everything seems to run like clockwork, once again demonstrating Pink's uncompromising professionalism. Immediately after the concert, she lovingly welcomes her family, who have already been waiting for her backstage full of anticipation.
"I wanted to be a rock star, so I would never have to get up early and have no annoying commitments. Now I have 225 people working for me, two crazy kids, and a huge amount of responsibility. And it works."
Pink's statement illustrates her admirable ability to overcome the seemingly impossible. What amazes me most about P!nk: All I Know So Far is the closeness the singer allows to herself and her family. Originally, Pink had not intended to make a documentary about her tour. However, when director Michael Gracey—who had previously worked with Pink on music videos—said that it was fascinating how Pink could play rock star, wife, and mom at the same time during her tour, she gave him the green light to shoot the film. This would give her two children, Willow and Jameson, the opportunity to see later in detail how they spent their early childhood years, as opposed to relying on their memories.
Pink seems to have no inhibitions about opening up in front of the camera. She reveals that it would worry her not to be able to offer her children a normal life. At the same time, however, she is firmly convinced that Willow and Jameson benefit greatly from the diverse experiences that life on the road offers. Not only the opportunity to experience different cultures, but also the constant presence of people who are passionate about what they do, contribute to this conviction. The unwavering love for her family as well as the authenticity that characterizes the singer make Pink an incredibly likeable personality, and an absolute delight to see in a documentary.
Pink is one of many singers who has had a stellar music career, as can be seen in "P!ink: All I Know So Far".
