Julia Döbele Singer

Music and singing are as essential to me as food or air. I love elevator jazz and experimental music, musical theatre and performance art. Perfection and technique are less important to me than sound, interplay, and musicality. I've been making music for over 20 years. My own project is experimental loop station contemporary vocal music. In terms of theatre, I'm interested in everything far removed from the mainstream; jazz can be relaxed, commercial, and even poppy. The main thing is that it's relaxed. I teach voice, applied vocal physiology, and also work with instrumentalists because somatic bodywork is so fruitful for making music. Since music is fundamentally communication for me, relationship and respect in collaboration are very important.
