FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions We have compiled a collection of the most frequently asked questions about our music school, along with brief answers. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, or if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us personally or call us at any time. I think I'm unmusical. Can I still learn an instrument? The belief that you're unmusical often stems from negative past experiences. An incautious comment from a classmate or teacher can be enough to make you lose confidence in your own musicality. But why have you ended up on our website anyway? Probably because you love music and want to be able to make music yourself – and that's the best indicator of your musicality. We want to allay your fears and give you a sense of musical success – in our friendly atmosphere, with personal advice and songs of your choice. How is the tuition fee calculated? The tuition fee is set as an annual fee. This amount is divided by 12 to result in a monthly installment. This simplifies administration and reduces costs. Therefore, collection also takes place during the holidays, which correspond to the school holidays in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Freezing payments during the holidays would mean a significant administrative effort for us, and the missing amounts would have to be spread over the remaining months, which would lead to an increase in tuition fees. Are there registration fees? No, we do not charge registration fees. How often do my lessons take place? Lessons take place once a week unless otherwise agreed. This excludes school holidays and public holidays (after the general school holidays/public holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia). Can I complete preparation for music studies with you? Yes, we offer comprehensive study preparation for prospective music students. Our program specifically prepares you for the demands of music studies – from music theory and ear training to practical skills. This way, you can begin your musical career optimally prepared! Is the tuition contract transferable? Yes, a started tuition contract can be transferred to another family member. The transfer usually takes place at the end of the month. Please contact us in good time so that we can make the necessary plans. Can I/my child change the plan within the existing contract? Yes, the plan can be changed at the end of the month – for example, from group to individual lessons or from 30 to 45 minutes. Please contact us in advance so that we can make the necessary plans. What should I do in the event of short-term illness? A brief call to the office to notify the teacher and/or a message directly is sufficient. A lesson missed due to a student's illness will be forfeited and will not be made up. How long does a contract last? The first four weeks after the contract is signed are considered a trial period. During this time, the contract can be terminated up until the end of the trial month; only the corresponding tuition fees for that month will be charged. After that, the contract can be terminated with six weeks' notice on April 30th, August 31st, or December 31st. The notice of termination must be given in writing or, for example, by email. Can I borrow an instrument from you? For the first few weeks until you purchase your own instrument, we will lend out a number of instruments, subject to availability. We would also be happy to give you tips on local instrument rentals and advise you on choosing an instrument that is well suited to your beginner or advanced level and offers good value for money.
