Frank Schoofs Bass player

I was born in 1976, and music has been a part of my life since childhood. I've been playing electric bass and double bass since 1992 and have been gaining band experience since 1996. My first stage experiences—if I don't count church choir—began in 2005. The influence of bands like Jamiroquai, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rae del Tomboy, etc., is unmistakable when I play bass. Having been heavily influenced by music theory, I learned (around 2008, I think) to disregard it and listen more closely (sounds strange, but it's true) and focus on the song idea, not my ego. I love to groove, I'm happy to hold back for the song, and I can also really let loose. Sheet music is worthless to me; a lead sheet (harmony, structure, and notes) is all I need. Swing, shuffle, or no metronome at all—because... I feel it and I'm open to it. Unfortunately, I don't have any songwriting talent. I can arrange, rewrite, and critique. I can recognize what works and what doesn't, and I'm willing to invest time. Frank
