About
Tito Monako is an electric bassist who’s spent over 20 years learning to listen. Whether he’s on stage with an afrobeat band, backing a pop act in front of thousands, or locked into a soul groove, his job stays the same: hold things down, stay out of the way, and make everyone around him sound better. He grew up in Kenya’s music scene, picked up gigs early, and kept saying yes, to afrobeat musicians, gospel singers, rappers, and soul singers, to anyone who needed a bass player who could feel the music instead of just reading it. Pop, afrobeat, funk, soul, hip-hop, all styles of African music — he plays them all, just not jazz.
