The imperial way of life, the self-optimization delusion of a whole generation, the ever higher, further, better, the ultimate musical rejection and yet sounding ecstatic beyond measure, because giving up can not be an option - HÆCTOR perform this balancing act in each of their songs and give urban existence in these times a soundtrack full of devotion, full of confidence but also thoughtfulness. Between indie riffs and synthetic pop, atmospheric keyboard pads and stormy vocals, the debut album "Modern Urban Angst", released in the summer, shows how socially critical and at the same time life-affirming contemporary pop music can be. The quartet from Hamburg immediately found a style that on the one hand sounds so big and sweeping that it would easily work in a stadium. On the other hand, the music oozes with a cathartic energy that's best erupted in a rancid little indie joint—and it does so on a regular basis.
