About
I founded a band called PLOP in 2013, and fate had it that more and more Polish people wanted to make music with me. So PLOP became a German-Polish band. Our band name and logo are registered. I'll be 66 this year, and my fellow musicians are a mix of older and younger members. We've played with a changing lineup. Inevitably, someone gets sick, another moves away. We're in the semi-professional music program—not yet in the supervised music-making phase, and we don't want to be. Some of the songs come from my songbook, but German isn't always easy to translate. I sometimes use AI to explore the possibilities, but the singer doesn't always get on with it. https://www.youtube.com/@bandplop/videos https://www.youtube.com/@bandplop/shorts I also like to do things with humor because life is far too serious—sometimes my PLOP members find it funny, and sometimes the lyrics need tweaking. Sometimes we have to commit a bit of mischief for our shared fun and laughter.

When my grandpa taught me the harmonica at age 9, I first learned "Fun is the Gypsy Life." Since then, at 23, I switched from the harmonica to the blues harp. I try to play some of the songs, but I can't do everything. Hard rock and metal, in particular, aren't really my thing.

I have a blues harp for almost every key, including the B notes; I would probably be a blues harp player.

I like melodic rock ballads, not-so-weary blues rock, never-ever-weary Nashville or Alabama blues, no-bloody-cotton blues, sometimes soul, or rather soul rock, reggae. If I don't know the key or the song and it's beautiful, I'm unstoppable.

I practice using YouTube, clean the rehearsal room, put on new guitar strings and tune them, polish the cymbals, order drinks, compile our books for the next gig, create posters with graphic design programs, which I then usually put up, and visit venues. I meet up with the guys for dinner. We go to concerts together by other colleagues and friends. My wife and I have an Old German Shepherd, and he's getting his summer coat, which means brushing his undercoat. My wife takes him for walks.
