He attended the trumpet class of Rolf Quinque at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. After graduating, he continued his studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Chicago, USA, with Professor Chichowicz. He then took up the position of assistant principal trumpet with the South Westphalian Philharmonic. Even in this role, he performed numerous solo pieces with the orchestra, including on the high Bach trumpet. This was followed by solo organ recitals and a teaching position for trumpet at the University of Siegen. In 1988, he joined the Munich Symphony Orchestra, where he was also appointed assistant principal trumpet in 1996. Furthermore, he achieved great success in numerous solo performances, including collaborations with Professor Clemens Schnorr and Professor Franz Lehrndorfer, and in many other concerts. He also performed with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra on a number of occasions under Lorin Maazel, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and other renowned conductors. He is active in chamber music, performing in numerous concerts and performances with the Metropolis Wind Quintet Munich, which also participates in many ceremonies for public figures. Most recently, in 2007, he completed a continuing education course with Prof. Günther Beetz at the Mannheim University of Music.
